MARRIAGE LICENSE INFORMATION

A marriage license is only valid for sixty (60) days from the date of filing.  Both parties must be present in order to file for a marriage license.  Once filed, there is a three (3) day waiting period before the marriage certificate is available for pick-up.  A court waiver is available to those who are unable to meet the 3 day waiting period.  You will need to check with the Probate Court for the necessary information and requirements for such a waiver, if needed.

Additional Items you need to know regarding Marriage Licenses:

1. The cost for a marriage is: $40.00

2. A certified copy of Marriage Certificate (ONLY AVAILABLE AFTER MARRIAGE) is:  $10.00

3. If requesting a certified copy by mail, please include the names of both parties, the date of marriage and a return address where we can send the certified copy.  Please make your check payable to the Town of Dartmouth and mail the request to:

4. The Town Clerk's Office has a Justice of the Peace available for marriages taking place at the Town Hall and also off-site.  Please contact the Town Clerk, Lynn M. Medeiros at (508) 910-1853 for information regarding the Justice of the Peace services currently available.
