The following information is from the Dartmouth Police Department regarding Firearms Licensing in the Town of Dartmouth. Please be advised that the Dartmouth Police Department firearms licensing department does not use the paper application form available online. The entire application is done online with the Massachusetts Firearms Licensing Bureau.
Please use the following steps to guide you through the licensing process:
1. Complete an approved Massachusetts Firearms Safety Course (Hunters Safety Course if interested in hunting).
2. Upon completion of the course and when certificate is in hand, call Firearms Licensing at (508) 971-1772 and request an appointment.
Bring the following items to the appointment:
1. Firearms safety course certificate, a copy will be made for our files and the original returned.
2. Proof of residency, example a utility bill, rental agreement, tax bill, etc.
3. Two references; name, address, telephone number.
4. Drivers License (if applicable).
5. Social security number.
6. Check or money order made payable to the Town of Dartmouth. If you are anaturalized citizen, bring certificate to the appointment and a copy will be made for the department's files. Pictures and fingerprints will be done during the appointment.
